Custom Nortier wedding dress for Angharad’s joyful wedding at The Mitre Hotel

Angharad and Max's fun, joyful wedding took place at St Margaret's Catholic Church in Twickenham followed by a romantic reception at The Mitre Hotel, Hampton Court. The day was beautifully styled with a vibrant pink colour palette and exquisite floral displays.

Angharad's dress was a stunning custom creation made by Nortier. Taking the straight cut, fitted strapless bodice from the Carrie dress, Angharad combined this with the ethereal floaty skirt from the Turlington separates. The look was finished with a delicate lace top, also by Nortier, made from intricate floral lace, which was removed later in the day to transform the look from ceremony to reception.

Read on for more details about the day and Angharad's dress in her own words, with stunning images by Joanna Ranson Photography.

Nortier custom wedding dress

I chose a Nortier special, a plain A-line dress with a gorgeous lace top. I chose this after knowing I always wanted lace as part of my wedding dress but also given it was a summer wedding and wanting to feel free especially when dancing wanted the options to change the outfit without having a complete new one. Ben did a sketch of the dress for me for when I came for my second appointment which is now framed in our house. The top was perfect for the church and I loved the intricacy of the specific lace. Taking the top off during the reception to unveil the strapless dress could not have been better for the evening especially given the hot weather on the day. I felt incredible all day.

I came to Miss Bush with only my mum, which was such a special experience. We had actually booked Miss Bush on recommendation and didn't know what to expect but coming to the chapel and being so warmly welcomed by the team and especially Ben confirmed we had made the right decision. When I saw the lace top I knew I had to have that as part of my dress so with trying on different skirts and bodices we found the one. Mum and I walked out knowing the decision had been made.

Dress Shopping at Miss Bush

I enjoyed every part of my experience with Miss Bush, I felt in incredibly safe hands. I loved being able to try on a variety of different options initially with Ben and finding something unique and personal to me in my dress.

Throughout my fittings with Adrien, I appreciated the attention to detail he showed and the precision at which he worked on my dress. I hope I did the dress justice!

I think you can get overwhelmed with all the different options of dresses and trying different styles. I had a vague idea of what I wanted and what I loved most about my experience with Ben is he managed to put together the dream and you really cannot ask for more than that.

I actually had already booked other shops for the day after and spent both those trying to recreate what I had found at Miss Bush - obviously this could nowhere near be done !

Styling

On my last fitting I actually forgot the shoes I had bought to wear, however, my maid of honour spotted gorgeous Mother of Pearl heels in the dressing room , so I tried them on and they worked perfectly - it was meant to be! I have actually worn them on a few occasions since and am taken back to our wedding day each time.

I paired the dress with pearl drop earrings my Grandma actually wore on her wedding day.

A joyful Summer Solstice wedding at The Mitre Hotel

We chose to get married on the Summer Solstice as Max's mum is from Finland where that time is a big occasion and so many of Max and I's happiest memories are in Finland during summer. We were then lucky enough to have a hot and sunny day to match!

In the morning, I got ready in The Mitre Hotel, it was just the best with my family and bridesmaids all getting ready together. It was such a relaxed morning.

We married in the church my Grandma married in nearly 50 years ago! It was the church her Uncle helped design so was so special and sentimental to us. Having my Grandma be able to be there as well was wonderful.

We kept the styling simple with gorgeous flowers by Jan Lima and the Priest brought up the wooden bench which was used at my Grandma's wedding.

We followed this by the reception back in the Mitre Hotel where Max and I had a moment to ourselves on the boat followed by delicious food, drinks and dancing.

The best bits

One of my favourite moments was Max and I's first dance - we choreographed the dance ourselves, despite not being dancers, to 'You've got the Love' by Florence and the Machine and had so much fun. It surprised our guests too and led to everyone joining in dancing!
Another has to be just having all our families and friends together, Max's parents are Finnish and Jordanian and we were so grateful that his family from there were able to come and celebrate our day with us.

Angharad's Advice

Enjoy the experience, I was told it goes by so quickly and it truly does and once the day is over the planning is such a distant memory, so take it all in as much as you can! I also don't love being the centre of attention however as a Bride to Be it is the one time in life where people want you to be, so try and embrace it and enjoy all your loved ones taking time out to celebrate you and your husband.

On choosing my wedding dress, Miss Bush and the experience with my mum was definitely a major highlight of the wedding planning process showing choosing the right shop in which to then find your dream dress cannot be overlooked.
