Jesus Peiro top and skirt for Sophie’s vibrant Menorca wedding to Will

We're taking you on a trip to beautiful Menorca today for Sophie and Will's vibrant, joyful wedding, which took place at La Mola Fortaleza Isabel II, an incredible 19th century stone fortress. The wedding was a relaxed, fun-filled, feel-good event, with a stunning pink and red colour palette to complement the glorious blue skies and stunning location.

Sophie chose to wear a set of stylish bridal separates from Jesus Peiro, opting for the chic 236 lace top with structured statement shoulders, paired with the sleek 2508 skirt. To style her look, Sophie wore her hair in an elegant low up-do with pearl accessories and a pair of sapphire and diamond earrings. To finish the look, Sophie added a fabulous pair of statement heels complete with glittery bow detail.

Jesus Piero 236 top and Jesus Piero 2508 skirt

I didn't think I would ever go for separate pieces for my wedding dress, but this was the exact combination I was looking for; I knew I wanted some lace detail on the top half and a slinky and slim fitted skirt (nothing too hot!) - so this felt like the perfect mix. I loved the way the skirt moved when I walked, it felt really elegant.

Dress Shopping

My favourite part of the experience was trying on such beautiful dresses and starting to visualise myself as a bride on the wedding day. Also, I thought Rosie was so good at understanding what styles suited me and making any suggestions for small tweaks or changes to make sure it was absolutely what I wanted.

Corinne gave up her time for 3 very last minute fittings in the run up to the wedding. She kept me calm, even when the clock was ticking(!), and always made sure everything was exactly perfect.

Styling

I love a bit of sparkle, so I wore some white stiletto shoes with a really sparkly bow and ankle strap - I wanted the light to pick up the sparkle on them and on my top. I also wore some special sapphire and diamond earrings which my dad gave to my mum years ago, so these were my something borrowed and something blue.

A vibrant, joyous wedding in Menorca

We got married on the island of Menorca which is where Will and I have visited every summer for the last 8 years. We absolutely love it there and were so excited to share it with all our nearest and dearest. The venue is an old fortress with some amazing views out over Mahon harbour. We did the ceremony in front of a beautiful old archway, then had the reception and dancing in the main square. The venue was quite neutral in terms of colours, so I was really keen to inject some bright pinks and oranges into it through the flowers and decorations. People even seemed to get the memo with their outfits with loads of bright colours, which I loved! When it was dark, the lighting really showed off the fort in all its glory – and to top it off, we had a full moon which was huge and bright in the sky which felt so special! A real highlight for us was having a roaming band on the dancefloor, so they sang and played in amongst all the guests dancing which was really cool.

The best bits

This is an impossible one to answer - I think I have two! First one is standing together at the top of the aisle and looking back at all of our guests thinking how special and amazing it was to have everyone you care about there with you to celebrate. Second one is when Will and I walked into dinner as the newlyweds with everyone dancing, singing and swinging their napkins to 'Volare' by Gypsy Kings, which then seemed to end up being the song theme for the weekend.

Sophie's Advice

Everything will fall into place! The thought of planning a wedding, and all the tiny details along the way feel quite overwhelming...but I think when the big day comes, no matter what happens, it feels like you wouldn't change anything for the world!
