Custom Jesus Peiro strapless wedding dress for Harriet’s Boconnoc Estate wedding to Will

Located in Lostwithiel, Cornwall, the spectacular Boconnoc Estate country house was the perfect location for Harriet and Will's beautiful July wedding. With simple, elegant styling, stunning florals in pale pastel tones, and personal, handmade touches, the day was the most wonderful celebration of Harriet and Will's marriage.

Harriet wore a custom Jesus Peiro wedding dress, created to encompass all of her favourite features from the collections. Taking the simple strapless bodice from 2364, we added the gently flared skirt from style 240, all made from exquisite lady satin. The final look was classic, elegant and stylish. In keeping with the clean feel of the dress, Harriet kept her accessories to a minimum, opting for a pair of delicate shell earrings, a romantic single tier veil and Manolo Blahnik's iconic Hangisi flats.

Read on to find out more about Harriet's bridal experience, and her beautiful wedding to Will.

Custom Jesus Peiro strapless wedding dress

I had initially tried on a wide range of different style dress at an alternative bridal shop in central London before I came to Miss Bush, and found that the strapless A-line style dresses suited me most.

When I came to Miss Bush for my first appointment, I knew that my dress would be from here. The dresses were of such beautiful quality, and my initial appointment with Ben felt so enjoyable and fun. He helped me pick out various different styles to try on, all of which I loved but I still kept returning to the simple strapless A line style. Ben was super helpful in bringing this together by helping me find a strapless top from one Jesus Piero dress and pairing it with the skirt of another Jesus Piero dress. I felt quite strongly that I didn’t want to look too traditional but still wanted a timeless classic style that I would love when looking back at photos in years to come. Although I love detail on other brides, I myself was always drawn to the more clean cut lines and simple designs. I also wanted the dress to be satin as I loved the way it moved and how it felt on so we decided on Lady Satin as the material.

The final dress was exactly what I wanted. It was simple and clean. The top felt contemporary and the skirt more traditional with a little added drama from the train and the satin felt really luxurious.

My Mum came with me to all of my dress appointments, which was lovely and felt very special. She definitely helped me narrow down the style of dress that I wanted. I also had my maid of honour with me for a couple of appointments, which was great as I always trust her opinion.

Dress shopping at Miss Bush

My favourite part of the shopping experience was having fun and trying on different styles in a nice relaxing atmosphere. There were so many different styles that I loved at Miss Bush and it felt like a really fun experience. I also felt that at Miss Bush there was adequate time and it never felt too rushed. This meant I could relax a bit and not feel too pressured into making a decision.

The team at Miss Bush were very helpful from start to finish. My first two appointments were with Ben and by my second appointment I knew what I wanted but it required a little imagination; trying different skirts with different tops and often wearing two dresses at a time. Ben was really dedicated and made sure I was happy with my final decision. My fittings were with Adrian and Jo and they were also wonderful. I have a tendency to waver on most decisions (big or small) and they were very encouraging and supportive – especially when it came to my inability to decide about a veil! The team were also really helpful when I decided (quite last minute) to pare back the dress even further by removing the waist belt.

Styling

I chose a pair of “Ocean Shell” earrings from Edge of Ember as a nod to my love of the sea and given we were getting married in Cornwall (although we weren’t directly by the sea) they felt appropriate.

I decided not to wear a necklace as I felt the strapless style looked best without.

For shoes I had my Maid of Honour to thank who very kindly invited me to a Manolo Blahnik sample sale where I came across a pair of beautiful silver glitter Hangisi flat shoes which I really loved.

I eventually decided to go for a simple up-do bun and my hair stylist did an incredible job at making sure it stayed in place for the whole day and night.
As much as I loved my dress, I decided for the evening I needed something a little lighter so changed into a twisted halter-neck satin dress.

An elegant wedding at Boconnoc Estate, Cornwall

When it came to choosing our wedding venue, my husband and I really wanted somewhere where our closest family and friends could stay with us. We visited numerous venues before finding Boconnoc House.

It was in the perfect location as the South West and in particular nearby Fowey are very special to us. We wanted the day to feel warm, happy and filled with love but also beautiful. For the flowers I was definitely inspired by my maid of honour Ellie who happens to be the founder of @TheBlumeStudio - a top London florist and her flowers provided a huge amount of inspiration.

I decided I wanted a brighter more eye catching colour palette than I had initially thought and went with peachy pinks, apricots and pastel lilacs. The candles were Ester & Erik melon sorbet and the serviettes were from The Knotted Napkin Company in a pastel peach shade. I decided to make my own artwork for the order of services, menus and signage, which added a little pressure but was eventually worth it as it felt more personal.

Our caterers were Fego Food Company who had been recommended to us by a few people and they really helped us design a menu with a fresh, summery, Mediterranean theme. Our evening food was a little more west country with cream tea (cream then jam of course) and pasties.

I was close to not having a wedding cake as I felt we had so much food planned for the day already. However, I kept coming across vintage style cakes and I loved how fun they looked. I initially couldn’t find anyone who made this style of cake in Cornwall but I somehow came across Lily at The Imaginary Bakery in Truro and she was fantastic. I really loved the cake and the guests did too as very little was left.

Our band were the amazing Astella Band. They exceeded all of our expectations and their wide repertoire ensured that the dance floor was busy throughout the night, which was exactly what we wanted!

The best bits

It would be impossible to choose one part of the day but I really loved our wedding ceremony. We had a string quartet (the magnificent Cornwall Quartet) who played our favourite classical piece of music when I walked down the aisle, which felt incredibly special.

Will also wrote a poem as one of our readings, which we kept secret from our family and friends and was a lovely touch. However, I would be lying if I didn’t say that the evening party and dancing with all of our favourite people in one room was better than anything I could have imagined and was probably the ultimate highlight.

Harriet's Advice

In hindsight I would avoid seeking too many opinions from friends and family as they will inevitably all differ! I chose to stretch our budget by involving a wedding planner and coordinator, which was without a doubt the best decision. Our planner/co-ordinator Sophie was invaluable and made our day run smoothly and took away so much of the stress on the weekend. It is very easy to over think every last decision and although the details are important if they matter to you (which they did to me), you really cannot go wrong when you have a room full of people who you love and are there to enjoy the day with you.
