We have a wonderful Surrey wedding to share with you today, featuring Ellie and Matt who were married at the historic Tudor mansion Great Fosters in Egham. The day began with a romantic traditional ceremony at St. George's College, Weybridge, where the bride went to school, followed by a beautiful reception in the Tithe Barn and magnificent grounds of Great Fosters.

Ellie wore Jesus Peiro's 2427, a simple, classic wedding dress with a perfectly fitted bodice, wide shoulder straps and curved neckline above a gently flared column skirt. The look was completed with a glittering cape from Nortier, adding shoulder coverage for the ceremony and a touch of sparkle for the reception. The cape was then removed later in the day and replaced with a large statement bow, transforming Ellie's look for the evening celebration. To style her look, Ellie wore her hair in a sleek low bun, with chic pearl earrings and her Mum's pearl chain necklace as her 'something borrowed.'

Ellie visited Miss Bush with her Mum, who was a Miss Bush bride in 1991 - scroll to the end of this article for a photo from her own wedding day!

Jesus Peiro 2427 wedding dress with Nortier cape

I always knew I was going to get my wedding dress from Miss Bush - my Mum got her dress from here nearly 35 years ago so it was so special to come here with her to find my dress. I had followed Miss Bush and Jesus Peiro for a while and loved the style of their dresses so my dream was also to wear one of these dresses on my wedding day. I wore the Jesus Peiro 2427, with the Ziggy Cape and Bow by Nortier. I wanted a classic style dress so the 2427 was perfect for this, I loved the fit of the dress and definitely gave me the look I was going for. During my first appointment Ben showed me the Ziggy Cape and fell in love with how stunning and sparkly it was so I knew this had to be incorporated to add some wow factor to the simpleness of the dress. I also got married in a Church so liked that the cape doubled as covering my shoulders as well as giving the impact of a veil. I wore the cape for the ceremony, our formal photos and cocktail hour at the reception, and then for the wedding breakfast I swapped this out for the bow for a slight outfit change without actually changing!

Dress Shopping at Miss Bush

I brought my Mum (a Miss Bush bride from 1991!) and my Maid of Honour, Natasha to my appointments. They both loved the dress and the fact that we could switch things up throughout the day.

My favourite part was trying on my actual dress for the first time - everything felt so real once I was in my actual dress. The brand new cape was also so sparkly - we left glitter all over the carpet in the shop!

Styling

I styled my look with a classic low bun and pearl accessories. I wore pearl mini hoop earrings from Atolea and borrowed a pearl & chain necklace from my Mum. I also wore a ring from my Great Grandma as my something old. My Maid of Honour looked after my engagement ring during the ceremony. My shoes were from Be Mine - I went through a few to find the perfect ones but finally settled on a satin pointed toe with a block heel for comfort!

An elegant, traditional wedding at Great Fosters

My husband-to-be and I started our days separately, he got ready at our reception venue, Great Fosters and I got ready with my parents and bridesmaids at my parents house. It was an early start for the ladies with Hair and Makeup starting at 6am as there was 8 of us to get through! The bridesmaids wore emerald green silk dresses from Maids to Measure and the Grooms party wore Morning Suits from Oliver Brown. Myself and my Dad were driven to the ceremony in a Silver 1969 Jaguar MK2 Beacham - a firm family favourite. Our ceremony took place at St George's College, Weybridge where I went to school, the aisle was lined with flowers by Lily & Myrtle and we also had floral displays on each side of the alter; for the flowers we stuck with greens, whites and blush pinks to match the bridesmaids and the grooms party's ties. At the reception we quickly got some formal photos before the rain came and then enjoyed our cocktail hour underneath the large canopy on the Magnolia Lawn with the saxophonist form the band doing an early set. We had our wedding breakfast in the Tithe Barn with more gorgeous flower displays & table names of places we had been on holiday together, designed by Avorium Events. Our cake had a simple pearl design and was topped with a Bride and Groom Rudolph figurine - in honour of our (my new) surname! Eventually, the dancefloor opened, we had a great live band and it was full until the end of the night (a positive side to the rain).

The best bits

My favourite moments were the confetti toss after our ceremony, I was most nervous for the ceremony so this was a fun release of nerves! I also enjoyed catching up with guests during the cocktail hour and then having a great time with everyone on the dancefloor.

Ellie's Advice

Don't stress - everything will fall into place and you will have an amazing time whatever happens. I was so worried about the weather leading up to the day but we still had the most gorgeous day even with a little rain!

In terms of the dress - try on different styles but remember in the end you have to chose something you feel comfortable in and something that still makes you feel like YOU!

Wedding planning books and wedding to do lists are very useful!
