We're delighted to share Ellie and Seb's beautiful Autumnal wedding with you today, which took place in October at Dewsall Court in Hereford. The day began with an intimate ceremony at St Michael and All Angel's Church, which was adorned with the most exquisite floral arch by Snowdrop Studios. The couple celebrated their wedding in Dewsall Court's Wainhouse Barn, decorated with more Autumnal flowers and magical twinkling fairylights.

Ellie chose a selection of bridal pieces to create her wedding wardrobe. For the main dress, Ellie picked elements she loved from two different Suzanne Neville dresses, taking the structured corset bodice with from Miltonia and combining it with the full skirt from Bussotti. This was worn with Nortier's Kitty high neck lace top for the ceremony, then removed for the wedding breakfast to transform her look for the next part of the day.

For the evening reception, Ellie swapped her Suzanne Neville dress for Nortier's Clementine party dress - a fun, playful mini dress in striking pale gold taffeta featuring a structured drop waist corset bodice and short bubble skirt.

Custom Suzanne Neville wedding dress & Nortier Clementine party dress

For my wedding dress I ended up combining the top from Suzanne Neville's Miltonia with the skirt from the Bussoti dress.

After trying on several Suzanne Neville gowns, I completely fell in love with their corsetry and so I knew I wanted one of their designs. I first tried on the Miltonia and loved the top as it felt classic and timeless. I also knew I wanted the option of wearing a lace top over the dress, as we were getting married in a church in October, and the Miltonia top worked perfectly for this.

In terms of the skirt the Miltonia skirt was magical, but I just didn't feel it suited my style as it was so flowy and whimsical. I really wanted a classic fuller statement skirt. I tried on the Bussoti dress, and I loved the skirt as it had beautiful pleat detailing around the waistband and thought it would work beautifully with the Miltonia top.

Once I had decided on the dress I then tried on a variety of tops that I could wear over the dress, I ended up choosing a high neck long sleeve lace top in a beautiful lace threaded with gold. I loved this as it felt like I had two completely different looks, to the point at which many of our guests asked if I had a new dress on when I took the top off. I also loved how it had gold in it as it tied in nicely to my second dress for the evening.

I could not have been happier with my dress, it was classic and timeless which was exactly what I wanted. Being able to combine styles and add different elements to the dress made it feel so unique and special.

For my second dress, I only tried on one dress and it was Nortier - Clementine in Gold. I hadn't really thought about a second dress when I visited Miss Bush but I saw it on my first visit and immediately had to try it on. It was so fun and so different to anything I had seen before and as soon as I put it on I just knew it was what I wanted to wear for the party. The gold colour was stunning and felt like it fitted my style way more than a white dress.

Dress Shopping at Miss Bush

My Mum, Mother-in-law and Maid of Honour came with me to my appointments at Miss Bush.

As soon as I came out in the dress, they were all silent and just smiled. We knew it was the dress for me!

My favourite part of the dress shopping experience was seeing the final dress for the first time. I knew I loved the two elements of the dresses that I had combined separately, but seeing it come together as one piece was amazing! Seeing the final dress made it feel so real and just made me so much more excited for the day!

Dress shopping can be quite overwhelming as there is so much choice and its hard to work out what suits you. Emma and the Miss Bush team really listened to what elements of dresses I liked and disliked and picked out dresses I wouldn't have considered trying on which worked perfectly as that was how I ended up finding my dress.

Being able to customise dresses by combining different styles and adding on sleeves/tops is something I hadn't considered before, but helped make my dress into something so personal that fit my wedding day perfectly.

Styling

As it was an October church wedding, I really wanted either sleeves or a top to wear with my dress. The top I chose gave the dress a classic, traditional feel, which I loved for the ceremony. Then, when I took it off for the wedding breakfast, the beautiful Suzanne Neville corset underneath was revealed.

For the veil, I went with quite a simple norther veil. With the high neckline of the top and the intricate lace detail, I didn't want to take too much away from it so we kept it as simple as possible.

My shoes were from the Rainbow Club, as my dress had such a full skirt you couldn't see them so I wanted to wear something comfy and save my feet for later on.

For my second look, I kept it quite simple as the dress is quite a statement on its own but I paired it with some platform gold sandals from Anthropologie.

A romantic Autumn wedding at Dewsall Court

We got married at Dewsall Court in Hereford, with the ceremony taking place at St Michael and All Angels church. The church is quite small but we just about managed to squeeze everyone inside. Although tightly packed it made for an incredible atmosphere, particularly during the hymmns.

After the ceremony we made the short walk up to the main house for our drinks reception. With it being an October wedding we had planned for the whole day to be inside, but as it was warm and dry our amazing wedding co-ordinator Sophie had organised for the drinks reception to be outside in the garden. This was such a nice surprise as we had planned for everything to be indoors given the time of year. After planning every aspect of the wedding it was so nice to still be surprised by some parts of the day!

The wedding breakfast took place in the Wainhouse barn which was decorated with autumnal flowers and foliage wrapped around the beams, with lots of twinkly lights. Following this we had a cocktail hour which was outside in the tree house, complete with an espresso martini tower! We were so glad we chose to do a cocktail hour as it was such a good opportunity to chat with all our friends and family, and also get ready for the party!

The best bits

Walking down the aisle and seeing all our friends and family in one room was a highlight of the day.

I was surprised that I also really enjoyed our first dance, it was something I wasn't really looking forward to, but by that point I was just so excited to dance with all my friends and family and to start the party!

Ellie's Advice

In terms of finding the dress, I think go into it with an open mind and enjoy the process of trying on different styles. I was so surprised when I tried on what ended up being my dress, as it was not at all what I thought I would go for.

Spend as much time together as you can, it goes by so quickly! If you are having the best time, your guests will too.
