We're delighted to share Jess and Cameron's joyful, colourful Spring wedding with you today. The wedding took place in the East Midlands, with a ceremony at St Nic's Church, Nottingham, followed by a fun, relaxed celebration at Sutton Bonington Hall in Leicestershire. The day was filled with sustainable details including beautiful dried flowers arranged by friends, a cake made by the bride, dried rose petals from their garden and music performed by friends.

Jess found her dress at one of samples sales, opting for Suzanne Neville's stunning Ariel wedding dress, which she customised to include a floaty chiffon skirt for a softer feel that was perfect for her relaxed Spring wedding day. To style her look, Jess chose classic pearl jewellery and an incredible cathedral length veil to add drama for the church ceremony.

Custom Suzanne Neville Ariel wedding dress

The base of my dress was the Suzanne Neville 'Ariel', which has a gorgeous (but somehow still comfy) corset bodice, and lovely butterfly sleeves. I LOVED the deep (but not too deep) v-neck, the feel of the structured bodice, and the buttons down the back of the dress. The original skirt (a fitted, fishtail style) wasn't really my style, but Ben knew immediately what to do... he gave me a soft A-line overskirt to try, and IMMEDIATELY I knew it was the one!

I used to go to the orthodontist in Ripley as a teenager, just next to the Miss Bush chapel, so when I saw there was a sample sale, I drove down from my home in Nottingham at the earliest opportunity to look at the dresses! I took my Mum, closely followed a few weeks later by two of my three bridesmaids. I think Mum could tell that it was the right dress for me as soon as I tried it with the soft A-line skirt, and that was it!

Dress Shopping at Miss Bush

From the minute I walked into the shop, I felt so at ease with Ben - he'd looked at my Pinterest board and had picked out some dresses I might like in advance, and let me know that he'd be able to make my perfect dress if none of the dresses were quite right. As someone who loves creating, and is super sentimental, it was SO special to essentially design my dress from the outset, building in things I knew Cameron would love too. I looked forward to my fittings every 6-8 weeks, and it was just such a joy to get to know Ben and Adrien - they're heroes!

Styling

I wore very simple jewellery since my dress was so simple and classic. A necklace with a freshwater pearl drop Cameron and I had bought with my grandparents on the Isle of Wight, and some pearl drop earrings he'd bought for our anniversary. My shoes were a Vinted purchase from many years ago, but by FAR the comfiest pair of heels I own - I wore them all day, only changing into a pair of white Birks at the very end of the dancing! Ben and Adrian had created a beautiful veil for me, with a boho lace trim, which I adored. It was cathedral length, whilst my dress was chapel length, so it created lovely drama walking down the aisle!

A fun, joyful Spring wedding in the East Midlands

We got married at the church I used to work at in Nottingham. It's a big, marble-floored church filled with natural light, and with a big curved balcony, so it fit plenty of people! Both of us are half-Scottish, so naturally Cameron wore his kilt, which has a red base, with wide bands of green and blue, and thinner bands of yellow and white. The boys wore kilts and a blue jacket or suit, whilst the girls wore olivey green v-neck wrap dresses. Yellow is one of my favourite colours, and I knew I wanted dried flowers to prevent any wastage, and so that we could keep them forever, so we had beautiful dried flowers, which some friends and I had arranged the week of the wedding. Some of our best friends formed the band at church and at the reception, and we danced out to 'Pump up the Jam' - a song which features in one of our favourite TV shows - so naturally we had to dance out wearing sunglasses! The confetti was dried rose petals, from our garden, Cam's parents' garden, and friends' gardens from the village.

For our couples photos, which was possibly one of our favourite moments of the day, we went for a short walk down the lane we used to walk down into the wee small hours when we were dating, then into the field we used to play frisbee in. The field is used for the annual Bonfire Night, but in May, the council let wildflowers grow where the bonfire was, so there was a beautiful wildflower meadow just for us! At our reception, we had Greek-style sharing platters (we're big foodies who love sharing!) and a grazing table, with an ice cream truck for pudding, and garden games to keep everyone occupied.

I made our wedding cake, which had a tiny Cam and Jess (made out of sugar) on top!

Jessica's Advice

Remember to do nice, non-wedding things with your partner!
Recruit friends to help you - it's way more fun doing things together (and with a glass of something nice, and some snacks)
Have lots of ideas about what kind of dress you'd like, but expect to be surprised too. I thought I'd go for something a lot more boho, but ended up with something really classic, classy and simple.
