Juliet in a custom Jesus Peiro wedding dress with wrap skirt for a modern, elegant London wedding

It was such a joy to browse the gallery of Juliet & Luke's stunning images when their wedding popped into our inbox! From the chic London locations and effortlessly elegant styling, every detail was planned to perfection. After the ceremony at St Mary's Church in Islington, our couple then headed to the reception at One Marylebone, making for some beautiful portraits around the city along the way.

Juliet's dress was the perfect choice for the day, combining a simple, striking silhouette with stylish fashionable details. This was created by combining the elements Juliet loved from a number of different styles; the high neckline and wrap skirt from 2212, along with the back straps from 161 and the deep, wide waistband from 166, all made from a crisp silk mikado. Such a brilliant example of the versatility and freedom offered by Jesus Peiro! A wrap skirt is the ideal opportunity to go all out with some epic shoes, and Juliet grabbed this chance with both hands, opting for some incredible Jimmy Choo Aurelie heels with eye-catching pearl straps.

A custom Jesus Peiro wedding dress

My wedding dress was custom Jesus Peiro. I loved that it was unique to me and it was so comfortable. I wanted it to be modern and a bit different, which I think we achieved with the high neck and split. Having the split at the front also gave the dress a more relaxed feel and gave my Jimmy Choos their deserved air-time.

I changed into a Galvan dress in the evening which I bought on ebay. The previous owner also wore it for the evening of her wedding day.

I brought my mum and one of my best friends to the initial meeting. They loved what I tried on although on that occasion I didn't try on THE one. They offered some great advice though and it was really fun. For the first fitting of my actual wedding dress I brought my mum and future mother in law. It was a very special moment.

Dress Shopping

Being able to be creative with Ben was such a great experience! I had a few ideas of things I would like the dress to have and had seen some dresses with elements that I liked but I couldn't find anything that had everything or was totally me. Ben seemed to know exactly what I was looking for and helped bring my vision to life, but even better than I could have imagined.

For the final fitting and day I was hoping to take the dress, the top wasn't quite right but it was no problem. Ben had factored in enough time and the amends were made with no issues.

Styling

I knew I wanted a low bun so you could see the back of the dress. I bought Miss Clemmie Pearl pins from you which were added to my bun. They were also incorporated into my bridesmaids' wedding hair so there was a thread connecting our looks. I wore Jimmy Choo's Aurelie shoes which also have a pearl band across the foot. I bought my veil from Miss Bush, which had a band along the edge, keeping everything overall fairly simple.

A modern, elegant London wedding

I think ultimately we were inspired by the venues and their beautiful, unique features. St Mary's in Islington is a bright and airy church with very linear architecture, which gives it quite a modern feel. One Marylebone was designed by Sir John Soane and has an incredible original gold mosaic altar, which became our dancefloor. We wanted to have lots of foliage and flowers in a pinky/orange sunset palate to complement but also soften the buildings' designs.

The best bits

That's so hard, I don't think I can choose a favourite part of the day! We were too busy having fun, so we didn't eat much food and ended up in McDonalds on the way home...

Juliet's Advice

Try a few completely different styles of dresses on, it may confirm what you already know or you may surprise yourself.

If you aren't happy with something, change it because it will annoy you later.

Enjoy your wedding day because it really is over in a flash!
