Georgie in custom Suzanne Neville Rowenna for a quintessential country garden wedding in Surrey

We're so delighted to share Georgie and Ed's wonderful English country garden wedding with you today. The ceremony took place at St Mary's Church, Chiddingfold, followed by an exquisitely styled reception in the garden at the family home. Taking place during the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend with a quaint backdrop of Chiddingfold village, the feel of the day was quintessentially English, with tons of flowers, celebratory bunting and a soft white and sage green colour palette. The wedding was styled and catered by Miss Bush favourites Susie Evans, Mad Lilies and Two Many Cooks, with our partners at The Wedding Present Company providing the gift list.

Georgia wore a customised version of Suzanne Neville's Rowenna wedding dress, replacing the standard lace bodice with plain silk. Georgie also opted to add pleats to the skirt for added volume, really making the dress her own. The styling was classic and elegant, with Georgie opting for a silk edged veil from Jesus Peiro, simple gold and pearl jewellery, a perfect half up do by Sharon Roberts, and a chic pair of Sam Edelman sandals.

Read all about the day, with tons of beautiful images along with words from Georgie...

A Suzanne Neville Rowenna Wedding dress

I chose custom Rowenna by Suzanne Neville. Opting for a plain silk bodice and added pleats to the skirt and a satin band around the waist.

I brought my mum with me to the chapel for each of my dress shopping appointments. She was the only person who had seen the dress before the big day and I hadn't given away any clues to anyone, so that made the 'big reveal' even more exciting. Sharing the dress shopping experience with my mum was also really special. It was lovely to spend quality time just the two of us and I know she really enjoyed the whole experience.

Dress Shopping

Miss Bush was the first bridal boutique I went to and I absolutely loved the experience. I didn't know what to expect but the whole appointment felt very personal and not in the least bit rushed. I felt as though we could have been there for hours. Emma and the team gave me some really helpful things to think about during my initial appointment. I went in thinking I wanted a completely different style of dress but Emma steered me towards styles that suited my body shape and made me feel great! Emma's honest feedback was one of the main reasons I ultimately returned to Miss Bush to buy my dress. You can easily get overwhelmed by choice when shopping for your wedding dress as there is so much choice and all of the dresses are beautiful. But Emma guided me towards the style that suited me best and suggested modifications to make it exactly what I was looking for. I felt in very safe hands.

Styling

I opted for a very clean, classic style with a dramatic Mikado silk skirt and long train. We added pleats to the skirt to give it depth and tied everything together with a satin band around the waist to match the satin band on my Jesus Peiro veil. The Rowena skirt has an amazing built-in bustle giving a beautiful silhouette and I bustled the dress up again before hitting the dance floor!

I wore simple jewellery - Gold Huggie Pearl Drop earrings from Lily & Roo and a simple diamond bracelet from my Grandma - my 'something old'! My shoes were from Sam Edelman - 4 inch gold open-toe sandals.

Sharon Roberts worked her magic on my hair which was 'half-up-half-down' (my signature) with cascading soft curls. In the evening I wore a pearl headband to add some extra sparkle!

About the Day

Overall we wanted our wedding to be a relaxed, English country garden wedding. Heavy on natural foliage with white, pale blue and sage colour scheme. We got married on the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend and this became an unintentional theme of our wedding and made the whole thing very 'quintessential'. The village green was decorated with bunting and the pub opposite the church had a union jack flag flying high which provided a lovely backdrop to our church photos. We also handed out mini union jack flags to our guests when they entered the marquee so that they could wave these to welcome us in to the wedding breakfast. This created such an amazing atmosphere.

We got engaged at The Pig in Harlyn Bay, Cornwall so this was the starting point of our inspiration. We handed out mini pasties to our guests as they left the church and served oysters, Cornish crab canapés and camel valley sparkling wine at our drinks reception. We also had Cornish cheese canapés to accompany the cocktails after the meal!

We absolutely love the rustic but still polished aesthetic that The Pig do so well so we tried to emulate this in the styling of the marquee. We had a clear roof, clear span marquee and went heavy on the natural foliage with long eucalyptus garlands running down the centre of the rustic tables and a show-stopping Italian Ruscus foliage canopy suspended above the tables creating an absolutely magical and very intimate dining experience. The pale blue and sage colour pallet was brought in through the table runners, glass wear and Ester and Erik candles.

The best bits

It is so hard to choose but I would say either the ceremony itself - we had the most wonderful reverend who delivered a beautiful, relaxed and personal service with an air of humour to calm our nerves! Our guests broke out into impromptu cheers on a few occasions which was amazing!

Otherwise it would have to be the moment we were welcomed into the marquee for the first time and seeing all of our friends and family cheering and waving their union jack flags in the beautifully decorated marquee. That was the moment it really felt that vision had come to life and everything was absolutely perfect.

Georgie's Advice

Go to Miss Bush! Seriously. The whole experience from start to finish was thoroughly enjoyable and stress-free. They stock a wide-ranging, carefully curated selection of beautiful dresses and there's really no need to look any further.

I would also say that using a stellar team of suppliers who have all worked together previously took so much stress out of the planning. We felt in such safe hands from start to finish.

And finally - get a wedding planner/coordinator - specifically Susie Evans - best money we spent!! 10000% worth it to help bring your vision to life and take the stress out of the day.
