Jesus Peiro 2518 wedding dress

I wore style 2518 by Jesús Peiró, and I fell in love with its simplicity the moment I tried it on. I’d gone into dress shopping with a clear idea of what I wanted: a square neck, a-line silhouette dress. I tried on a few that technically ticked those boxes, and they were lovely, but none of them really gave me that 'this is it' feeling. Then I went to Miss Bush, and the 2518 dress was the first dress I tried on there. It was strapless, which I’d always said was a definite no - but it completely changed my mind. The structure, the clean lines, the fabric felt so timeless and elegant. I knew instantly it was the one!

I went to Miss Bush with my mum. Throughout the whole process, she was very conscious of making sure the decision was mine - she didn’t want her opinion to sway me too much! The moment I stepped out in 2518, though, we both knew. I value my mum’s opinion so much, so the fact we both instantly agreed on it made it all the more special.

Dress Shopping at Miss Bush

Honestly, I wasn’t massively excited about dress shopping at first. I’m not the most outwardly expressive person, and neither is my mum, so the idea of trying on dresses and being watched for that reaction felt a bit daunting. But the experience at Miss Bush completely surprised me. As soon as we met Emma, we felt totally at ease. The space is beautiful, relaxed, and there’s such a sense of fun without it ever feeling over-the-top or performative. I ended up absolutely loving it!

Being only 5ft1, I found a lot of the dresses I’d tried before just felt overwhelming - too much fabric and nothing sitting quite right. But Emma instantly knew what would suit me. As soon as she saw me, she brought out the 2518, and it was perfect! Having the dress custom made made a huge difference too. It wasn’t just shortened - it was tailored to my proportions. Emma had the waist raised and adjusted the length properly, so it felt like the dress had been made for me, not just altered. That kind of attention to detail changed everything.

Styling

My shoes were actually the first wedding purchase I made after getting engaged. I saw them online and instantly fell in love - they were the Ella Pale Blue Satin Heart Brooch Courts from LK Bennett. They became my 'something blue' and even inspired the bridesmaid dress colour, even though I didn’t strictly follow that tradition! With the dress being so simple and structured, I kept the styling minimal and delicate. My parents bought me a beautiful gold, diamond necklace, and Matt gifted me a pair of pearl drop earrings - really simple and timeless. I just wanted to feel like myself on the day, but a slightly more polished version!

A timeless, romantic Surrey wedding

We got married at Botleys Mansion in Surrey, which was the perfect spot for us - beautiful, elegant, and close to both of our families. I’m very much the type of person who’s thought about her wedding day for most of her life, so once Matt proposed, I couldn’t wait to get started with planning! We kept everything really simple and classic. The colour palette was mostly whites and greens with florals, and the only real pop of colour came from the bridesmaid dresses and my shoes, which were both a soft, dusky blue. It gave just the right amount of contrast while keeping everything feeling calm, fresh and timeless.

One of my favourite personal touches was a reading during the ceremony by my grandma - it meant so much to both of us and made the whole thing feel even more special. But honestly, just having all our favourite people in one place, smiling and celebrating, was something I wasn’t quite prepared for - it was the best feeling seeing everyone genuinely enjoying themselves.

The best bits

There are a few that really stand out. The speeches were incredible - emotional, funny, and so full of love. And of course, seeing Matt for the first time as I walked down the aisle is a moment I’ll never forget.

But one that sticks with me most happened during cocktail hour. Matt and I had just stepped away for a few photos and found ourselves standing in a field looking back at all our guests. Everyone was laughing, chatting, drinking cocktails, and listening to the roaming band. It was exactly how we had pictured our wedding to be during all those months of planning. Seeing it come to life like that was a bit surreal, and so, so special.

And then there was the moment after our first dance - everyone was on the dance floor, the confetti cannon went off, and I just remember being so happy! Everything had gone perfectly, and now all that was left was to dance the night away with all the people we love.

Ellie's Advice

Wedding planning can feel completely overwhelming at times - there’s so much inspiration out there, and it’s easy to get caught up in all the 'wedding noise'. But honestly, the best advice I can give is to enjoy every moment and don't sweat the small stuff. The day will be perfect because it’s your day, not because every detail is flawless or perfectly 'on trend'.

When it comes to finding your dress, definitely keep an open mind. I had a very specific idea of what I wanted and ended up falling for something I never thought I’d choose. Try on styles you wouldn’t usually go for - you might be surprised! And most importantly, choose something that makes you feel comfortable and like the best version of yourself.
