Hannah and Josh's wedding was a beautifully styled, relaxed and elegant day, taking place in June at Boconnoc Estate, Cornwall. A soft, natural colour palette and tons of stunning white flowers along with thoughtful personal details made the day memorable and special.

Hannah wore Suzanne Neville's spectacular Calla wedding dress, which she transformed throughout the day with a selection of clever detachable sleeves including beautiful silk puffs by Jesus Peiro. These were swapped later in the day for the original Calla off the shoulder sleeves, and then removed completely for the evening reception. This was such a simple but effective way to carry the look from day to night. Hannah styled her look with a chic up do and a romantic cathedral-length veil by Nortier, finished with iconic Loeffler Randall sandals.

Styling

For our church ceremony, I replaced the original Calla sleeves (which we made detachable) with the Jesus Peiro, silk puff sleeves. I prioritized fullness and length over embellishment for my veil, which was a cathedral-length design by Nortier, with a fine trim around the edge.

For dinner and cocktails, I took off the veil and replaced the sleeves with the original, Calla sleeves. I am so glad I kept these, as I'd always adored them, and they allowed me a bit more movement for dancing during our surprise music set in the middle of dinner!

Later for the dance floor, I removed the sleeves altogether for a completely strapless look - and added a custom-made pearl encrusted headband.

Throughout the day I wore my hair in a low, loose bun, and kept jewellery simple with a pair of Miss Clemmie, gold pearl drop earrings - which I actually spotted in the fitting room at Miss Bush.

For my shoes, I went with a pair of Loeffler Randall's Camellias, with a few rhinestones for a bit of something extra. I also wore a gold pair the night before at our welcome party.

Much, much later in the evening, I changed in to a shorter, strappy slip dress, which I was very grateful for when I ended up on the shoulders of one of the ushers!

About the Day

From the early days of planning, we knew we had three priorities. We wanted the wedding to feel really personal, with great food, and a really fun party. I had quite a particular idea of how I wanted our wedding to look and feel, with a soft, natural colour palette, and plenty of thoughtful touches. From our welcome dinner the evening before, to coffee and pastries on the lawn the morning after, our wedding planner and stylist, Rebecca, helped us bring this to life, beyond what we could have imagined.

Our incredible florist Grace created a huge array of fluffy, bright white and soft nude pink flowers arrangements, which matched the flowers naturally blooming at Boconnoc in June. Tall, nude tapered candles, oat coloured linens and stoneware crockery filled the room, and guests found their tables via 'love notes' that we'd written to each of them, an small way to share how much their love and support means to us both.

For our food, we stayed true to the English countryside venue, serving local, Cornish produce - including a huge pan of fresh scallops in shells - herb crusted hake and local lamb - and offered Cornish pasties late at night, for our guests. We served English sparkling wine, and opted for a very lavish pavlova, which we decorated and cut, instead of a wedding cake.

Our final non-negotiable was the music, so much so that we ended up with live music playing throughout the full 12 hours of our wedding. Our incredible band, The Distractions, played the saxophone throughout our reception and cocktail hour, surprised guests with an r'n'b set during dinner, and finished off with an epic four-hour show band set. We danced the night away until 1am, when the dance floor was still packed!

The best bits

There were so many highlights, but the ceremony was so special and personal, and something we'll never forget. From the string quartet playing our favourite songs, to the readings by our closest family and friends, including a poem I had written for Josh, read out by my oldest friend as a surprise for him.

Hannah's Advice

Listen to your gut instinct, and try not to ask for too many opinions - though do accept help if its on offer, as sharing in the joy with family and friends in the lead up, makes for such special memories. Just enjoy it - it really does go so quickly!
