Emily in custom Jesus Peiro for a chic, modern wedding in the Cotswolds

We're so pleased to share Emily and Matt's stunning with you today, which took place at The Rectory Hotel in the Cotswolds in early October. The beautiful autumnal day was filled with elegant, modern details, with Emily's background in weddings influencing their chic styling.

Emily wore an incredible custom Jesus Peiro wedding dress, which we created by combining features she loved from a number of different styles. The defining feature was of course those striking organza puff sleeves, taken from the 2275 coat, the finale piece from the Textures collection.

Emily styled her look with classic, timeless accessories to allow the dress to shine. These included a padded satin headband, pearl drop earrings and the coveted Manolo Blahnik hangisi heels.

Read on to find out more about the day and Emily's dress in her own words.

A Jesus Peiro wedding dress

I wore a bespoke Jesus Peiro dress of dreams that combined the neckline and body of 2214, the sleeves from an organza JP coat and swapped the skirt shape and crepe fabric for the honestly gorgeous slipper satin from another JP dress with a boat neckline and open back.

Dress Shopping

I brought my mum to all dress fittings with bridesmaid Connie joining me for a fitting. Connie's sister Charlotte bought her Jesus Peiro wedding dress from Miss Bush earlier the same year so we shared the Miss Bush excitement together! My mum knows me and my style very well so as my bespoke dress came to life, seeing her light up, just as I did, helped to solidify that we were headed in the right direction. We both spoke about Emma all the way home in the car - we just loved the candour and atmosphere Emma created from the start of my first appointment.

Honestly, the frankness and skill with which Emma nudged me when deciding on shapes and styles were my favourite part. I remember at one point considering a big, full skirt and Emma saying this might not work for a few reasons. I found this direction super reassuring and helpful rather than being told everything and anything would look great: I really craved that expert view - a bit like when you go to the hairdresser and are not sure what cut and colour to go for. I needed an Emma to combine my quite clearly-cut vision with expertise.

I had a little wobble mid-way through the process when the neckline wasn't quite what I was hoping for. I felt nervous to bring it up but the Miss Bush team took the feedback on board confidently and remedied it with no issue. I'm super grateful for that.

Styling

I was set on having a simple but bold headband and ended up choosing one from MaxMara Bridal. I must have tried on over 20... I went with a super simple, tulle, slim cathedral length veil too. For shoes I had Manolo Blahnik Hangisis with a 70mm heel in white satin so I didn't have sore feet. I was determined to buy something pre-loved and found the shoes on Vestiaire Collective as well as some pale blue suede Manolo Maysales mules for our legals a few days before.I kept jewellery really minimal with some baroque pearl earrings and nothing else. I wanted the dress to do all the talking.

About the Day

Matt and I were really keen for a smart, refined wedding day with modern elements spun in to make it feel as far away from stuffy and hyper-traditional as possible. I work in weddings and was super inspired by weddings in the US. We went for a Black Tie dress code and the groom and groomsmen wore black velvet jackets. Although the style was smart we wanted the atmosphere to be relaxed and comfortable and our lovely celebrant India and magic-maker coordinator Georgie made that very possible. I was set on having lots of personal touches that made our guests say 'that is so Em and Matt' and I think we succeeded from a little miniature dachshund figure at the back of our cake to hand-illustrated menus. Our venue also completely embodied this which really helped.I was quite specific about flowers and bridesmaid palettes too opting for really soft, diffused and muted tones throughout the flowers (Ellie completely blew us all away with her designs) and loved the bridesmaids' green tones.

The best bits

There are way too many to choose one: my mum helping me to zip up my dress, walking down to the ceremony with the girls and my dad, seeing Matt at the top of the aisle, walking out to confetti and seeing a sea of smiling faces from our closest family and friends, our speeches, guests cheering Matt when he changed into his pink velvet jacket for the evening, dancing the night away with all our best friends and so, so much more. Absolutely, unequivocally the best day of our lives.

Emily's Advice

Finding your dream dress... come to Miss Bush! I would say don't feel pressured to try on a million dresses and try not to bring too many people to your appointments. Just one or two people you really trust and who will bolster your views and thoughts. Think just as much about your accessories once you've found 'The One' in your dress. As for wedding planning, try as much as you can to just do what you and your partner want to do. It is going to be the best party and day of your lives so try not to give into what other poeple want (easier said than done I know).
