Emma in Anna Kara Chey for a beautiful Greek wedding in Epidavros

Ben & Emma's incredible destination wedding took place in early September in the Greek town of Epidavros. Their venue was the Mouria hotel; a special location for the couple who after years of holidays there sipping Espresso martinis by the sea decided to get married at their favourite spot.

Emma chose the perfect Grecian Goddess inspired dress for the occasion, the stunning Chey by Anna Kara. A creative halter style neckline holds together delicate draped panels of light tulle, which sits over stunning embroidered vine design. The detailed bodice is complemented by a simple sweeping skirt. Emma styled her bridal look with soft beachy waves and a delicate pearl headband from Miss Clemmie which complemented the dress beautifully.

Anna Kara Chey wedding dress

When I came to Miss Bush last December Emma was absolutely amazing. A true professional, you instantly felt at ease and that you were in good hands. We had such fun trying on a range of different styles as I came with a complete open mind. The dress I chose was the first dress Emma put me in, the Chey gown by Anna Kara. I had explained a few details about our Greek wedding and the Chey was the perfect fit. The detailing was exquisite and it could not have complimented our wedding theme any better. The smile when I first tried it on was just from ear to ear. I've never felt so good!I brought my mum with me the first time I tried the dress on and then once Covid restrictions had eased more my bridesmaids were able to join us for the fitting appointments. It was so special to see their faces when I emerged from the dressing room. There were tears, smiles and even little screams!

Dress Shopping

My favourite part of the dress shopping was just how much fun it was! Emma made me feel so relaxed. I had no idea what styles would suit me and I was worried that being so short dresses would either swamp me or just look silly. Emma instantly made all of those concerns disappear and we just had fun trying on the some stunning dresses. I wish we could do it all over again!I was extremely lucky during both dress shopping and wedding planning journey. It was touch and go with the travel restrictions and getting everyone to Greece (that was very stressful) but the one thing I didn't have to worry about was my dress. I had total confidence in the Miss Bush team and felt so well looked after with all the updates/ fitting appointments.

Styling

I always thought I was more traditional and English rose in looks/ style. I've always loved the Boho-Ethereal look but never thought that I would be able to pull it off... but to my delight that's exactly what I did! The venue was very natural - by the sea, under the Greek vines. I wanted to echo that in my dress and style. The Chey dress could not have been more perfect to do this! The detailing on the bust/ back had beautiful vines and the way the layers hung was so elegant. Miss Bush introduced me to Miss Clemmie and i wore the Amelia pearl headband for that extra bridal touch. To complement the pearls in the headband i chose a pair Charlotte Mills shoes called the Henri which also had pearl detailing. I would highly recommend Charlotte Mills to any brides - stunning design whilst being super comfortable. I managed all night in those shoes and even pulled off a bit of Greek dancing to boot!

A beautiful Greek wedding in Epidavros

We love Epidavros for its unspoilt, natural beauty and we wanted our wedding theme to complement this. With that in mind we chose soft greens and neutrals with a splash of terracotta for our colour palette. We love Greece so much so we wanted to keep with the spirit of the place - olive leaves for confetti, vines in our decorations, a Greek feast for the food, a table full of baklava and other delicious desserts... not to forget the Greek dancers as well. It was our own version of a big fat Greek wedding!

The best bits

My favourite part of the day was walking down the isle and seeing Ben for the first time. I can't put into words just how magical that connection was. In that moment and whilst we were saying our vows everything else disappeared, it was just us. What made it even more special standing there for the ceremony was that Ben's 92 year old nan, the matriarch of the family, became reverend nan and was the one to marry us which meant the world.

My next favourite moment was when the Greek dancers got guests on the dance floor and everyone just went wild! With Covid after all the restrictions and the stress of whether the wedding was going to happen to see everyone really going for it on the dance floor and just letting loose was bloomin' fantastic.

Emma's Advice

For any new brides my advice would be do things your way and just have fun! It's so easy to get caught up in the little things and sometimes there is pressure for a wedding to be a certain formal way... it's your big day and it should be what you want it to be. Ben and I just wanted to have fun with our favourite people in our favourite place and so that's exactly what we did.
