Lisa in Anna Kara Roma for a relaxed destination wedding in Mallorca
Lisa and Sean's beautiful destination wedding took place in early September at the gorgeous Son Mir in Mallorca. The feel of the day was relaxed, fun and focused on everyone having a brilliant time with food food, drinks and music.
Lisa wore Anna Kara's Roma wedding dress, which was the perfect choice for a wedding abroad. Light, airy, and comfortable, this delicate gown features trailing embroidered leaves on a sheer mesh backing, veiled beneath draped sheer chiffon for an ethereal, dreamy finish.
Read on to find out more about Lisa's dress, and her wonderful wedding to Sean...
Anna Kara Roma wedding dress
I brought my friend, Nicola (who you'll see helping me into my dress on the day in my photos) on my first visit to Miss Bush and I tried on a wide variety of dresses but we both knew Roma from Anna Kara was the one for me. I came back with my mum and my friend Heidi for the final fitting as Heidi couldn't make the wedding and I wanted her to see the dress first.
Dress Shopping
I loved it all, although it was a little bizarre trying on amazing dresses wearing a face mask! The team were so expert and knowledgeable and it's so amazing trying the dresses on in an actual chapel.
I bought a pair of Gina shoes and they snagged on my dress when I tried it on. I went to change them for another pair and called the Miss Bush team to show them and ask their advice as to whether they would be suitable so I didn't make another mistake. They were great.
Styling
Because it was so hot on the day (32 degrees!), I decided against wearing the veil and just styled the dress simply with some beautiful asymmetric pearl earrings from Italian designer, Buccarello and my pearl Gina shoes. I had to wear lower shoes than usual because the ceremony involved a long walk across grass and I was really worried I would sink in stilettos! The whole look was very relaxed and comfortable, just what I wanted. I was probably the coolest one there - I feel sorry for the boys in their suits! I danced through the night...
A relaxed destination wedding in Mallorca
Trying to arrange a wedding abroad during a pandemic is no mean feat and we knew it was hard for many of our guests to join us so we wanted to make sure they had as great a day as we did. And so the emphasis of the day was on delicious food, free flowing drinks and great music. Sean and I both love quality food and drink so we had come out to Mallorca for a food and drink tasting earlier that summer.
The venue was perfect, we looked at a couple before finding a lovely finca in the Mallorcan countryside. Style-wise, I wanted to reflect the natural beauty of the surroundings in the simplicity of the unstructured dress and flowers.
The best bits
I don't think I could choose a favourite moment! Just sharing our day with the most important people in our lives who'd travelled so far to be with us in tricky circumstances. The ceremony was performed by a friend and was very personal and beautiful. My father's speech still can make me cry! After a year of no live music, I loved dancing to our band - everything was perfect!
Lisa's Advice
Make sure your dress, hair and make up reflects your personality so you feel like yourself on the day. Try on plenty of dresses, I was surprised by some that I tried on and didn't expect to like so be experimental and don't rule anything out! And enjoy it! It's a one off experience and loads of fun!
And don't stress on the day - enjoy it. No one will know (or care) if the flowers don't arrive in the exact shade so just relax! In hindsight our cake looked rubbish but by 10pm and a lot of drinking and dancing, everyone just tucked in!
