We're delighted to share Emily and Charlie's fun, sentimental country house wedding, which took place in August at Mapperton House in Dorset. The day began with a traditional church ceremony, followed by a drinks reception in the sunken garden at Mapperton House, a marquee in the grounds for the wedding breakfast and dancing until the early hours in the coach house. Personal touches throughout the day included incorporating proteas into the floral arrangements representing the bride's South African heritage, and a WW2 plane flyby in honour of the groom's grandfather.

Emily wore Jesus Peiro's stunning 2666, a strapless ballgown wedding dress with folded bodice detail, all made from exquisite floral silk brocade. Emily styled her dress with a simple single tier veil attached to a sleek up-do adorned with delicate floral hairpins. A diamond and ruby necklace gifted from the groom on the wedding morning completed the look.

Jesus Peiro 2666 wedding dress

I chose the Jesus Peiro 2666 dress with full petticoat underneath. It was such a beautiful and special dress, and I knew the minute I put it on it would be the dress for me.

I brought my Mum with me and she cried when she saw me in it for the first time.

Dress Shopping at Miss Bush

The chapel is such a calm and safe space, which is so important when making sure you find a dress you love and feel comfortable in.

Styling

I got my shoes from Rainbow Club and my accessories were gifted to me from my husband Charlie. He had a diamond and ruby necklace designed and made for me to wear on the day.

A fun, sentimental wedding at Mapperton House

We had proteas throughout the day to represent my grandparents who are from South Africa. We also had a flyover from a WW2 plane to represent Charlie’s grandfather who fought in WW2. It was an English countryside wedding, with a beautiful sunken garden for the reception, a marquee outside the stately home for the dinner and then dancing in the coach house to a rock band. We were married in the chapel and a swallow flew in mid ceremony and watched over us the whole time.

The best bits

When the swallow joined us in the church and when Charlie and I had a private 20 minutes eating our canapés and drinking a glass of fizz while all our loved ones have a lovely time.

Emily's Advice

Make sure that you get a dress you love and feel comfortable in immediately! Don’t pressure yourself into picking a dress that you don’t feel 100% in.
