Victoria in a custom Jesus Peiro wedding dress for a city wedding in Copenhagen, Denmark

On a beautiful sunny day in late July, Victoria & Richard were finally married after having to postpone the previous year. Taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, the day was a combination of Danish and English wedding traditions, with a ceremony at the English church of Copenhagen, St Alban's, followed by a gourmet wedding breakfast at Paradehuset in Frederiksberg.

Victoria wore a custom Jesus Peiro wedding dress, created with design elements from two dresses she loved; the striking ruffled sleeves and square neck of Style 8042, above the elegant split wrap skirt from 121. All made from chic cotton pique fabric, Victoria styled her look with beautiful pearl accessories including a pearl encrusted headband along with pearl studded heels from Charlotte Mills.

Victoria's custom Jesus Peiro wedding dress

I loved the statement sleeves, balanced by the sports-luxe cotton pique fabric. I often feel quite self-conscious in photos, but the dress helped me to feel like a more confident version of me, while staying true to my individual style. I felt so happy wearing it - and comfortable too! The pockets were a god-send, and the split skirt meant I didn't have to worry about getting too hot on the day (I wanted to avoid lots of thick fabrics and tulle in case of a July heatwave!).

My maid of honour, my mum and our family friend - who has always been like a big sister to me - came with me to find the dress. Between the three of them you couldn't ask for better fashion advice. They all fell for the dress right away, but my mum loved the split skirt from JP 121. Corinne was brilliant in helping us to see how we could combine elements from both dresses.

n all honesty I loved all of the JP dresses I tried on. I follow Miss Bush and JP on instagram and it makes me so happy seeing brides in their incredible designs. My maid of honour wore JP on her wedding day - also from Miss Bush! So it's thanks to her I ended up at The Chapel.

Dress Shopping

For me, the best part of the shopping experience was how it was amazing to know I would feel confident on my wedding day wearing this gorgeous dress - no matter what the wedding day looked like. Even though our wedding date and plans changed a number of times, it was reassuring to know that the dress was waiting in the wings - alongside the wonderful Miss Bush team.

Rosie and the team were always just an email away - offering support, flexibility and a friendly face. My final fitting came during a particularly difficult week for me. The Miss Bush team were so kind and caring during the fitting, it was a huge comfort to me.

Styling

I accessorised the dress with a pearl headband, and pearl earrings - drop pearls from Anni Lu which Rich gave to me on our 'would-be wedding day' last year, and small pearl studs which my brother bought for me for my 30th to match.

As my 'something old' I wore a gold bracelet from my Mormor, which my mum also wore on her wedding day.

My shoes were from Charlotte Mills - also studded with pearls!

A city wedding in Copenhagen, Denmark

My family are Danish, so we wanted a wedding day which celebrated both Danish and English wedding traditions.

We were married at the English church of Copenhagen - St Alban's. We then travelled to our reception venue in an old London taxi. The dinner was held in a beautiful green house which was flooded with light, and the festivities continued into the early hours with lots of speeches, singing, poems, games, and plenty of dancing. The Danes love to party!

We booked our venue based on their incredible food (the venue is run by renowned restauranteurs) and wine. It was really important to us to have a great wedding breakfast, as we are both huge foodies. We planned the rest of our wedding (and budget!) around our dream venue.

We had missed our friends and family so much over the last 18 months, so our day was really motivated around spending as much quality time together as possible. We were seated around one long table - we both loved being able to see all of our guests chatting over dinner.

The best bits

I am a huge ABBA fan. We left the church to Dancing Queen played on the organ - and arrived at the venue to Dancing Queen being played by a jazz trio. The song brought so much joy and laughter to our day.

I also loved seeing our wedding flowers. We worked with the most amazing florist who took a general steer from us regarding colour (pink/white/green) and style (modern/wild) - but we wanted the exact details to be a surprise on the day. When my wedding bouquet arrived I was on cloud nine! My mum and I are still talking about the flowers now.

Victoria's Advice

So many 'corona brides' have said the same - but no matter how your day ends up, it will be the best day of your life! We were originally due to be 120 guests, married in August 2020. Instead we were 40 guests, married in July 2021. Of course we missed dear friends and family, but in a way our day was completely unique and incredibly intimate - I wouldn't want to change any of the amazing memories we made.

We were able to stream our wedding ceremony live from the church and this meant the world to us. We had guests tuning in from lots of different timezones, celebrating in their living rooms and popping champagne together. I'm so grateful that we were able to share our marriage with so many special people in this way.
