Our wedding today is the 'formal but funky' Isle of Wight wedding of our bride Cecily to husband Rupert. The day began with the wedding ceremony at Holy Trinity church, Cowes, a special, meaningful church to the brides family where Cecily was Christened 30 years before. After the ceremony the bride, groom and their guests made their way down the hill to the Royal Yacht Squadron for the reception, followed by dinner and dancing.

Cecily wore the chic, contemporary 8007 wedding dress by Jesus Peiro, switching her accessories later in the day to transform her look from formal for the ceremony to fun and comfortable for partying into the evening!

Jesus Peiro 8007 wedding dress

I choose this dress on my first visit to Miss Bush - when I put it on and knew it was the one. I loved the structure and symmetry, fitted body and then massive skirt. It felt funky but formal, elegant but a statement which is exactly what I was after.

I found the dress on my first trip to Miss Bush. Mum was with me (Dad in the car.) Mum loved it as much as me, so we asked Dad to come in and have a look. He loved it too so we went for it. I loved the experience of doing it with both my parents and how excited we all were! It was pretty special.

Dress Shopping

Before coming to Miss Bush I did 5 visits to London designers - all a bit stressful and expensive. The Miss Bush experience was personal and friendly; such a nice vibe and impeccable service. Corinne listened to everything I said and choose 3 or 4 dresses, all of which i adored. My favourite part had to be that feeling of just knowing it was the one and feeling like I'd cracked it.

The Miss Bush team's calm and supportive approach was so helpful. I ordered the dress in January, by the time it arrived and I had my next fitting in May I'd changed shape quite a lot, but Jo was AMAZING with the alterations.

Styling

It started off pretty classic - accessorised with diamond and sapphire earrings that were lent to me. Shoes are always a nightmare for me as I have massive feet being 6ft2 - so I went to Crispins (Chiltern Street) with my sister and she encouraged me to choose some funky gold heels.

Before dinner I changed my earrings to some jazzy more statement ones and put on some fresh white Reeboks for dancing (sorry!) When we left at midnight on a boat I wore one of my Mum's vintage sequin jackets.

A formal but funky wedding at The Royal Yacht Squadron

The day was always going to be about family and friends being all together in my favourite place.

The church and Royal Yacht Squadron meant that the setting was quite formal, but we're a creative couple and so we were determined to make it 'formal but funky'.

For both of us, we've always said that the best bit was in the church at the top of the aisle, when it was just Rupert, me and the vicar.
