We're off to The Cotswolds today for Georgie and Ed's stylish Autumnal marquee wedding! The day began with a beautiful ceremony at Church of St Peter and St Paul in Northleach, following by a reception at Conygree Farm, Aldsworth. Their marquee made the most perfect blank canvas for their day, which was filled with creative floral displays by Millie Richardson.

Georgie wore Jesus Peiro 927 wedding dress for the wedding, which she made her own with the addition of a unique bespoke collared shirt in one of Jesus Peiro's sheer dotty fabrics. This allowed her to cover up for church and then change her look later in the day - such a fab flexible bridal look!

Jesus Peiro 927 wedding dress

I chose the Jesus Peiro 927, it was the first dress I tried on at Miss Bush and I loved it straight away. I tried on more dresses but came back to this dress as nothing else compared. We made some changes to the back of the dress so it just had two shoulder straps and a low back, with no strap across the middle of the back. The dress was so comfy to wear with no extra underskirts or corsets, it was a classic design but the spotty material made it a little bit different. I wanted a 'cover-up' to wear during the church service, I had seen some sheer shirts in the new collection from Jesus Peiro and we were able to come up with a bespoke shirt design that I could wear with the dress. The spotty material matched the dress and it was a perfect accompaniment to the elegant design. I got so many comments on the shirt on the day - I think it was even more popular than the dress AND I can wear it again!!

I loved my whole look on the day, it felt like me but the wedding version, I wouldn't have changed any of it.

Dress Shopping

I went with my Mum to all my dress appointments, I completely trust her opinion and she knows me better than anyone so she would be able to tell if I wasn't happy with something. We are both very honest with each other, so she would also tell me if she didn't like a dress. Honestly is definitely the best policy when it comes to wedding dresses!!

When I put THE dress on, my Mum knew straight away that it was the one. There was no going back after that moment...

My favourite part of the dress shopping at Miss Bush was mainly that it was really easy. I had no major dramas and I got everything that I had imagined. As a bride you can't really ask for more than that.

Styling

My overall look was very simple. I had my hair up in a low bun with a few white roses between my bun and veil. I bought my shoes at Priestley's Vintage Shop in York, they are a fantastic shop for classic vintage pieces that are hard to find. The shoes were vintage Zandra Rhodes, they were colourful but not too much. I had platform flats for the dance floor from Rogue Matilda which were the perfect compromise between a trainer and heels.I wore a chunky gold bracelet that was given to me my granny and vintage glass cut drop earring from Priestley's.

A stylish autumnal marquee wedding

I really want to stay clear of the twee country marquee wedding that you see a lot of. I decided early on that I wanted a clearspan marquee to make the most of the views at the reception. The marquee was a perfect blank canvas to work with. Millie Richardson, my florist, was the absolute dream at making the marquee look amazing. We went big on Autumnal foliage and florals, with big messy table centrepieces and foliage all through the roof. The flowers added all the colour and kept everything from looking too prim, I couldn't recommend Millie more - I love her!! I hired lounge furniture and rugs from Wedhead who have some nice options that are a bit different to the norm, I also decided to make 130 napkins from vintage french linens to add in more colour and a bit of extra personality.

I covered the wooden bar in discount material from John Lewis, which also added a feature and blended in with the floral theme. I was so pleased with the overall look of the marquee, it looked even better once the sun went down and all the candles and fairy lights were twinkling against the happy chaos.

The best bits

All of it!! It was the happiest, bestest, most perfect day ever.

Georgie's Advice

For the dress: to begin with try on anything and everything, you will very quickly get an idea of what you like and what suits you. You will probably end up with something very different to what you had imagined, but you won't know until you try. There will be a dress for you so don't give up and remember almost everything can be altered to how you want it - if in doubt, ask!

For wedding planning: Excel Spreadsheets are your friend. List everything you think you are going to need and give it a nominal budget to begin with, this will give you a really good idea of how much (or little) there is to do and you can quickly prioritise what you really want. One phone call will save you a million emails, so just pick up the phone and ask suppliers about what you want rather than trying to work it out over a long email chain. Make a running order for the wedding day well in advance, this will give you a chance to see if you have missed anything and give you time to contact suppliers if you need to change any logistics. Designate someone on the day who is the supplier point of contact so you don't have to think about it. That day is so special and you do not want to be worrying about whether the caterer has arrived whilst you having your hair/makeup done. Finally, enjoy it, its so much fun and you will have the best day ever!!
