We absolutely adore a chic, London city wedding here at Miss Bush - especially when it takes place at the iconic Chelsea Old Town Hall, which was the location for Kate and Jack's July wedding. The romantic, intimate ceremony was followed by a beautifully styled reception with incredible bold floral arrangements at Daphne's Restaurant, 112 Draycott Avenue.

Kate is our first featured bride to wear the stunning Guru gown by Sophie et Voila. This is stylish silk crepe gown features a soft, flowing silhouette with a chic square neck and bold puff sleeves in sheer organza. The look is finished with fitted cuffs with a row of buttons to the elbow. Kate accessorised her gown with fabulous gold platforms from Chloe and an oversized hair bow personalised with the bride and grooms initials, which we just adore! To finish the look, Kate added pearl drop earrings, a gorgeous YSL clutch and a pair of chic sunglasses from Celine.

Sophie et Voila Guru wedding dress

I ended up choosing something totally different to what I had imagined I would go for. As we were having a micro-wedding and I thought I would go for a suit/jumpsuit/trousers combo & I had weirdly been against something more traditional.

Once I put on the Sophie et Voila Guru dress though (which Emma convinced me to try, even though I had come back to confirm some palazzo trousers & a corset) I knew it was the one! It was traditional, but also modern, the puffy sleeves made it feel more edgy and a lot more me and it is simply stunning.

I brought my Mum and my best friend & bridesmaid to my wedding dress appointment. They were both onboard with me choosing something not so traditional, but when I came out in the Guru dress, they both instantly knew it was right! My best friend said she could tell how the dress made me feel, she said I radiated confidence in it & that sealed the deal for me!

Dress Shopping

It was a real journey of 'discovery' for me & I love that I ended up with something I never thought I would have chosen on paper! It's every little girls dream to try on wedding dresses & Emma had me in every kind & style & by doing this, we found the Guru! From start to finish, every time I went to the Church, it was a truly special experience & made me only more & more excited to wear my dress on the day!

Styling

I went for slightly less traditional shoes & wanted a pair that I would definitely wear! I ended up wearing the comfiest & most amazing Chloe Gold platform heels.

I am known for wearing bows in my hair & my wedding day wasn't going to be an exception, so I had a customised GiGi & Olive bow in my hair.

I wore the most stunning Charlotte Alegria pearl drop earrings. I had a YSL white clutch bag to carry essentials with me on the day. Sunglasses were from Celine.

A chic London wedding at Chelsea Old Town Hall

We had always imagined a small, intimate wedding & with 23 guests (including us) it was exactly that!

Our day was quintessentially London, we said our vows at Chelsea Town Hall, where we had the year before registered our little girl's birth, so it was very speical to be back there getting married & with our little girl part of the day.

After our ceremony, we walked with our guests to Daphne's which was a short walk, along the most beautiful road in Chelsea & provided plenty of photo opps outside the gorgeous colourful townhouses & with London buses & black cabs passing by.

We had our Wedding lunch in the Conservatory at Daphne's, which is simply the most stunning & elegant space, we both fell in love with it when we were looking at venues. The room is light & bright, with the most beautiful & ornate decor. Our flowers by Sage, went beautifully in this space & we had bowls along the one long table. We wanted all our guests to be sitting together & this space allowed for this.

After our lunch, we had a London bus collect all of our guests & we had a surprise singer on the bus waiting for us, so we could have a sing-song on the way to our evening venue. We then ended the night at Sea Containers roof top bar & had the most stunning view of London.

The best bits

I loved all of it, but walking down the aisle & seeing my husband waiting for me & his face when he saw me, was truly special. I also absolutely loved our wedding speeches, our Groomsmen wrote a medley of songs for us & they sang & played the guitar & had everyone in laughter & tears in equal measure! Our photographer captured the speeches by myself, the groom & the groomsmen so beautifully, we will both treasure these forever.

Kate's Advice

Open mindedness is key! Be prepared to try on things you didn't imagine yourself wearing & you may just be totally surprised & fall in love with the one!
