After sadly having to postpone in May 2020, we're delighted to share that Charlotte & Ben were finally married two years later at a relaxed, beautiful and fun tipi wedding in West Sussex. The couple were married at their local village church, St Nicolas in Itchingifeld, which was followed by a reception just down the road at Sumners Ponds; a special place for our bride and groom who regularly walk their dog there and go fishing.

The day was packed full of gorgeous handmade details, making the day all about the bride and groom with unique, personal details. Charlotte chose to wear Jesus Peiro's classic 121 wedding dress, with a simple round neck and pulled in waistband complemented by an open back with chic crossed spaghetti straps. Charlotte styled her look with timeless accessories including pearl drop earrings and Charlotte Mills blocked heels that looked fabulous with the the 121 wrap skirt.

Read on to find out more about the day in Charlotte's own words, along with a gallery of joyful images from her wedding to Ben.

Jesus Peiro 121 wedding dress

Emma put me in Jesus Peiro 121 and there was no going back! It's a dress I would have never picked out or did anyone think I'd be in, but I fell in love. I tried on many other dresses but nothing had that same feeling. I loved how effortless it was to walk in and the classic but modern style was fit for a church, timeless and great for a good party. I genuinely felt the very best version of myself, it was the best feeling in the world and something I'll hold close for a long time to come, I have never felt so confident in my own body!

Dress Shopping

After following and being recommended Miss Bush for a long time, I first dipped my toe into the dress journey with my Mum, my Maid of Honour & her Mum for a girls night to celebrate both mine and my MOH's engagement at a Miss Bush event for a bit of wedding excitement fun and browsing. We had a great night, proper girls night, the chapel hosts some great soirees.

Amongst the fun and giggles of trying on silly dresses with my MOH, Emma had suggested I try on a dress that night that she had just got in, I was slightly reserved as the room was scattered with people and I wasn't thinking about finding a dress. However, the magical power Emma has, strikes again, we all had a moment and I knew I would be back for more.

Knowing I had to come back to try on Jesus Peiro dresses which is a designer I had followed for a while, mostly due to the fabulous and handy pockets but also the material was a dream, I returned to the chapel with Mum to find and finalise 'the one', it was such a moment when we both locked eyes and with an emotional cuddle, the deal was sealed.

I got to have an extra special moment where I brought my poorly Auntie to try on the dress with me at my final fitting and get her seal of approval. It's a lasting moment and picture I will treasure forever, thanks to the Miss Bush team for making it happen. I also had a moment out of a chic flick movie where, coincidently one of my best friends and bridesmaids had a technical dress fitting at the same time as me and we got to reveal our dresses to one another and get a fabulous mirror selfie. We felt like movie stars and Rachel and Phoebe from Friends!

Styling

I wanted a classic look and opted for simple pearl drop earrings and Charlotte Mills block heels which had a bit of 'something blue' and a silver 6 pence in sole. My dad surprised me with a beautiful Tiffany diamond necklace which really complimented the dress without him knowing what it was going to be like - my 'something new'. I wore my mum's scalloped bottom veil for my something old and she had a patch of her wedding dress made for me to clip in my pocket as my something old with a photo of my grandpa and my St Christopher in - this was super special!

About the Day

The day was all about us, we wanted to bring together our favourite people and celebrate the journey they have been part of in our 12 years together. The whole theme of the wedding was all about us, our first home was in the village we got married in and we've had so many happy memories at Sumners Ponds. The tipi reception was chosen as one of our first dates was at Reading Festival and the table names were all named after places we had visited over our 12 years together. The food was themed on our favourite things and drinks to mark a local vineyard and location of our Honeymoon.

The best bits

Wow, it's very hard to pick just one, it was just the most magical day from start to finish, especially having to wait an extra 2 years from covid.

There were certainly a few special moments. The first was the moment I opened my eyes 'it's finally our wedding day' and to see a video from my now husband that the sun was shining and our tipi was looking fantastic, it really set the tone of my smile throughout the whole day. I loved the laughter, giggles and popping of champagne corks with my bestest friends getting ready. Stepping into my dress, pressing it down and my gorgeous flower girl grabbed my hand and said 'let's go'. Also, the first look from dad was very special and then entering the church and seeing everyone there just for us was truly breathtaking.

The last, ultimate best bit, was throwing one hell of a party, surrounded by all the people in the world who mean so much to us, with incredible food, great music and a crazy amount of booze whilst the sun shone over us.... and of course marrying my man after 12 years! BEST DAY EVER.

Charlotte's Advice

It's very easy to think about everyone else and not do things for yourself, try and stay true to yourself and what you both would want your perfect day to be. Enjoy every second and try and relax, it's the best day of your life after all!
