We're so pleased to share Amy and Jimmy's delightful spring wedding in Dorset with you today! The ceremony took place at the picturesque St Mary's Church, Netherbury followed by an elegant reception at Mapperton House and Gardens.

The feel of the day was simple, classic and natural with a focus on beautiful flowers in keeping with the May wedding date. Mapperton House offered the perfect backdrop for the day, with their idyllic traditional English Country Gardens and beautiful wisteria making for some stunning portraits.

Amy wore Jesus Peiro 166 wedding dress, a now iconic look from the Barcelona based bridal brand. This dress is a classic Jesus Peiro style, with a crisp ballgown silhouette, sports luxe inspired crossed back and their signature pockets. Amy kept her styling chic and minimalist, opting for a simple veil for the ceremony and a fabulous padded satin headband for the reception.

Jesus Peiro 166 wedding dress

I chose  Jesus Peiro 166 - I loved the back the most, which we customised. It was a big dress and not something I would have imagined but I loved wearing it on the day. Although it had a big skirt, the overall dress was simple which I liked!

Dress Shopping

I took my best friend Rose with me to the first appointment and we both loved it. I'm not great at making decisions though, so my Mum also came to the second appointment and I had to try loads of dresses to be sure! Of course, we all came back to the 166!

I loved spending that time with my Mum, it was really special and she came to every appointment with me.

I had a wobble when I went to try the dress before my first fitting! We had made some adjustments and I didn't feel great when I tried the dress on, the top felt too big and I was also really concerned about the size of the skirt. Emma wasn't there but followed up afterwards and I went back to see her. She really did listen and take the time to understand what I was saying!

Styling

I wanted to keep things simple! I borrowed my best friend's veil which was a special touch. Once I'd taken the veil off, I wore a padded headband from Clementine & Mint. My earrings were pearl drop hoops from Monica Vinada. For my shoes, I chose a simple pair of suede courts from Whistles.

About the Day

Again, I was keen to keep things simple and not have too many colours/florals! Mapperton is such a beautiful venue that I didn't think we needed loads of styling. I wanted lots of foliage and a natural look. My mother in law and her friends foraged most of our foliage/flowers and we all decorated the church and Mapperton. Our florist was great and really supportive of our ideas, she matched our bouquets and created some larger arrangements for the church, which we also transported to Mapperton. We wanted the day to be a party for everyone, so we really focused on the food and over catering on the alcohol! It seemed to work!

The best bits

I actually enjoyed the church ceremony much more than I thought. But if I had to pick one moment that I really remember, it was the drive from the church to Mapperton! Jimmy drove us in his Dad's old MG, we were waved off by all our friends and family and the drive through the country lanes with the roof down in the sunshine, just the two of us, is an amazing memory!

Amy's Advice

I quite like organising things so maybe this is easy to say, but try to plan as much in advance so you can really enjoy the final weeks rather than being stressed. I also had my hen do in Bordeaux only 2 weeks before the wedding, so even more reason for me to be organised! And, if you have lots to do to get the venue ready, try and recruit as many friends and family as possible to help on the Friday - it makes such a difference to the stress levels to have lots of help!
