We have a beautiful, festive treat for you this Christmas Eve! Holly and Jack's romantic Kew Gardens wedding took place at the start of December, with a glamorous Black Tie dress code, green velvet bridesmaids dresses, twinkling fairylights and elegant white florals which were just perfect for the festive season. The Kew Gardens Christmas lights made the most wonderful backdrop for Holly and Jack's photographs, resulting in the most incredible, romantic portraits.

Holly wore our Miss Bush 2214 special from Jesus Peiro, with added pearls as seen on our anniversary special. We love the combination of the square neckline, voluminous ballgown skirt and the full length sleeves with pearl detailing. For added drama, Holly also wore the detachable train from Jesus Peiro 175. To style her dress, Holly added more stunning pearls in the form of a bespoke Miss Clemmie hair accessory, Charlotte Mills pearl bag and 'something borrowed' pearl earrings from her Mother.

Jesus Peiro 2214 Miss Bush special wedding dress with pearls

I couldn't decide so with the wonderful help of the Miss Bush team I went for a combination of the JP2214 Miss Bush Special with bespoke sleeves; with the pearls from the JPxMiss Bush Pearl Anniversary Dress and added the super long detachable train from JP175. My veil was made in house by the Miss Bush team to get the right length for my long train and the pearls were added to match my dress sleeves.

My dress made me feel like a princess! It was everything I had dreamed of and more and the team at Miss Bush completely understood my vision and helped make it become a reality. I loved the square neckline and how it was very classic and timeless.

I first got a good idea of the combination of dresses I liked in my first appointment! I had my sister (Maid of Honour) and Mum with me. My sister lives abroad and Emma was extremely helpful in getting me a last minute appointment so she was able to be there with me for my first appointment which is a memory I will never forget. Their reaction was emotional which I wasn't expecting as I had a couple of dresses on - but luckily we all saw the vision! This was the first time I cried trying on a wedding dress and it wasn't even a single dress! I later bought my Auntie for a third opinion. Once my dress had arrived in Store my Mother In Law also came for a visit.

Dress Shopping

Dress shopping at Miss Bush is an experience like no other. I went to 5 other shops, found a few dresses I liked and could have been viable options - but nothing made me feel like I did when I first walked through the Chapel Doors. It really gives the WOW factor which was the exact feeling I wanted guests to have when they came to our wedding, and it certainly did not disappoint - I knew I was going to be in safe hands. I never once felt pressured to buy, and the experience of being able to get something completely unique was also really fun! Every single appointment at the chapel was so much fun, and seeing my dress come to life was amazing. You really get a sense that you are part of the Miss Bush family, rather than just a customer. I also loved the amount of contacts and recommendations you can get from Miss Bush - it was here I found Miss Clemmie and Sharon Roberts who did an amazing job for mine and my bridesmaids hair.

Wedding planning is stressful in general, but one thing I never stressed about was my dress! I actually lost a lot of weight before my wedding and dropped a couple of dress sizes from when I first was measured to my final fittings and I would really like to emphasise how incredibly talented Jo the seamstress is! She was able to alter the sides of my dress without impacting the sleeves and long train attachments to make sure it fit like a glove.

Styling

I came to a Miss Bush accessory styling day and met Miss Clemmie - she helped create my bespoke piece which was filled with pearls to match my dress and sat underneath my high bun style I was going for. It was really unique and I loved it.

I had the Charlotte Mills Kitty Pearl Bag - again to go along with the pearl theme.

My shoes were custom made BB Flats from Manolo Blahnik in a dark green velvet to match my bridesmaids and the colour theme on the day!

My earrings were my 'something borrowed' from my Mum and also Pearl. My bridesmaids were gifted beautiful earrings By Glaze in pearl as well to match.

Festive Kew Gardens Wedding in December

We were going for a WOW factor, Black Tie, Christmassy winter wedding. The theme was lots of sparkly lights, greens and whites, and very classic. I had an idea of what I wanted the day to be like in my head, and found lots of ideas on pintrest to help make our day even more magical. I followed all our suppliers on instagram well in advance of the big day and got a lot of ideas from other couples they had also worked with. I wanted it to be a winter wonderland - and Kew Gardens certainly delivered on that! Having photos in the Christmas lights was absolutely magical. We also wanted to bring in a hint of "South Africa" to our day - its where we got engaged and is where we are going on Honeymoon, so we had all wine and sparkling from the Boschendal Vineyard where we have visited and named our tables after the Vineyards there that we had been to as well.

The best bits

I couldn't possibly pick just one part the whole day was absolutely magical and it couldn't have gone any more perfectly, this is also a testament to our fantastic team of suppliers. I remember looking outside the hotel window the morning of and seeing a few flurries of snow, my late grandparents had snow on their wedding day and I remember thinking that was going to be a very good omen, and it certainly was! From arriving at the ceremony right through to the last song (and past this as we clearly did not want to go home!), the whole day was perfect. Being surrounded by everyone you love at the same time is so rare and we just felt so loved all day.

Holly's Advice

Make sure you get a great bridal shop who understand the look you are going for and the expertise to make it become a reality! How you feel in your dress I really believe sets you up for how you are going to feel on the day. I clearly loved my dress so much as woke up in it the next day!

I would also say, make you you love you photographer, they are with you all day - Liza felt like having a friend with us at the wedding and I really believe how comfortable she made us feel really shows in her amazing photographs. She also recommended Becky our videographer, and having them both with us who clearly work so well together has resulted in some truly amazing footage and photos. I also feel like having a team of suppliers in addition to this who largely know each other makes the day run really smoothly as well.
