Leonora and Edward's beautiful Spring wedding took place in Lincolnshire, at the picturesque Church of St Mary and St Augustine in Stamford. This church is a special location for the bride who was christened there along with her sisters, the eldest who was also married there. This was followed by an impeccably styled marquee reception at Barnack village cricket club.

Leonora chose the perfect dress for her English countryside wedding, opting for the Miss Bush 2214 special by Jesus Peiro. We took the chic square neckline and sleeves from 2214 and combined it with the bodice from 2236 and full pleated skirt from 200. This was all made from crisp, luxurious silk mikado.

Jesus Peiro 2214 Miss Bush Special wedding dress

I love a puffy sleeve and was absolutely sold by the sleeves on this dress they are so impactful but elegant and cool at the same time. I also discovered I love square necklines! For a slightly fuller bust the square line felt flattering and also gave the dress a more modern feel. I didn't think I wanted a long or dramatic train but once I tried it on I completely changed my mind and loved this extra dimension at the back.

The fabric was absolutely beautiful and I loved the simplicity of it with no patterns or lace it is completely classic and timeless. Paired with a long and flowing veil it was the perfect look for me.

I was very nervous about everyone looking at me on the day but I felt unbelievable in the dress and relished being the bride and being celebrated. It helped that absolutely everyone fawned over the dress and said how perfect it was!! I loved my husband's classic morning suit and soft pink waistcoat and felt like we were two peas in a pod.

Dress Shopping

Just my Mum came to the appointments with me, and whilst there was a previous front runner we really liked, once I tried this one on we both knew this was the one. She of course shed a few tears!Once I had decided on the dress, putting it on for a second time was the best part. I didn't have to go through the difficult bit of making decisions any more I knew it was right for me and I was so excited to have it made for me!

Styling

The veil was a huge part of my look I always knew I wanted a veil but I was unsure of what style. I tried several different ones but went for a simple and classic long veil that just clipped into my hair. It was so beautiful without being fussy and over the top and just added another beautiful layer to the dress. Instead of having an evening outfit I went for a headband just to slightly change it up. I had this made from the same fabric as the dress by a milliner friend (who also made my Mum's beautiful hat) and the material was very helpfully sourced via Miss Bush.My shoes were incredible Gucci Horsebit leather slingback pumps. As they had a block heel they were comfortable and didn't sink into the ground so practical too! they were a special purchase but one I went for on the basis I was obsessed with them (!) I'd wear them again and have done to several friends weddings since. I absolutely adored them and even though they weren't particularly visible I sort of liked that it was my little secret having them hiding under the skirt! In terms of jewellery I kept it super simple with some beautiful gold and white topaz drop earrings from Completed Works and in addition to my aquamarine engagement ring (my something blue!) I wore the engagement ring of one of my grannies and the wedding ring of the other so that they were both with me.

An English Spring countryside wedding in Lincolnshire

We wanted to get married in spring because of beautiful English spring flowers. There's always a risk of a wet or grey April day but we thought it we filled it with colourful flowers this would brighten everything up. These paired with colourful candles on the tables and individual hand drawn pictures of our dogs as the table names filled the marquee with so much joy and light, and as dog lovers a real essence of who we are.

The church ceremony was very important to us and particularly with it being a church where we had celebrated other family occasions over the years. We were thrilled to have our family and friends a part of the service reading and singing, and to have the children of friends and family involved as our beautiful flower girls and page boys.

As Edward is a chef food was a huge part of the day and whilst he didn't do any of the cooking he designed our menu and it was his sous chef and team who did the cooking. They did a spectacular job everything from the canapes to the petit fours was delicious.

We wanted our day to be all about friends and family - to know that the room is full of people you love is such a special thing. We didn't have anyone there that we didn't really want to be there.

The best bits

The whole day was perfect but there were definitely a few super special moments. My mum and sister helped me with the dress and the buttons and we had this lovely moment upstairs away from the madness when it suddenly all felt real and I was ready to go but having them either side of me was just what I needed. When I arrived at the church I suddenly was overcome with nerves and although Dad did a good job of trying to distract me it really hit me! But once we entered the church and I saw Edward standing at the top of the aisle I felt completely relaxed and couldn't wait to see him. We'd only been apart for 1 night but it felt like eternity! He on the other hand took one look at me and burst into tears!!!

Once the ceremony finished we snuck off and waited in the priest's doorway whilst everyone came out of the church. We had this amazing few minutes just us two so filled with happiest that we had just got married and we couldn't stop smiling. We also got to watch all of our happy guests pilling out of the church and they didn't know we could see them! And of course the arrival of our dogs at the reception! We are huge dog lovers and our tribute to them on the wedding cake wasn't quite enough we had to have them there too! That was so special and made everyone smile. And once we'd done the first dance (which we'd been a little nervous for as we didn't practise at all!) we spent so much time dancing together and just having so much fun. We didn't leave each others side and it was such an amazing way to start married life on a real high.

Leonora's Advice

Don't bring a hoard of people to try your dress on, it can be overwhelming and lots of opinions and eyes don't always help. It sounds obvious but go with a dress you really really love yourself in rather than just what you had pictured in your mind for your dress. I didn't intend to go for a big skirt and thought I would look awful but once I tried that style on I loved the way it looked. Try to enjoy as much of the planning as possible and make decisions together. And don't stress about having the absolute best and most expensive version of things, that's not what people take away. The ones that are memorable are the ones full of love and laughter and happiness and fun, beautiful settings are great but don't lose sight of what its about. If you can try and have a rehearsal the day before. It's a welcome break from the chaos of the couple of days before, it grounds you and just reminds you the importance of what you are doing with the person you love.
