Danny and Sarah's relaxed country wedding took place in the stunning surroundings of Staveley in the Lake District, with a romantic ceremony and beautiful reception at Fairbank Wedding Barn.

Sarah wore the stunning 2226 wedding dress from Jesus Peiro; a A striking mermaid dress featuring bold leg of mutton sleeves with puff shoulders and rows of covered buttons running from wrist to elbow. Sarah styled her dress with bespoke accessories from Miss Clemmie, pairing art deco inspired crystal hoop earrings with a trio of crystal hairpins. To finish the look, Sarah added a pair of statement glitter heels from Jimmy Choo.

Jesus Peiro 2226 wedding dress

Having searched many larger bridal fashion outlets I was having no luck finding a wedding dress that felt right for me. I knew that 'princessy' or very floaty styles which look so pretty on younger brides would not suit me, but I wanted a dress that felt special, flattered my figure and made me feel comfortable in my own skin. I knew I wanted sleeves and a fitted look, but other than that I was totally unsure of what would work on me. When I looked online at the styles that Miss Bush stocked, Jesus Peiro jumped out as having the classical yet distinctive lines that appealed to me, they were really pretty but not overly 'fussy', and refreshingly unlike the generic styles that other outfitters had suggested to me. They also had several styles with sleeves! When I arrived for my first appointment I tried on several Jesus Peiro dresses and some other designers too, just to get a feel of what would suit me, but the one I'd had my eye on when I first looked online was the one I fell in love with in the end, style 2226. It just worked with my body shape, made me feel elegant, not frumpy, classic but with some edgy style features, and bridal but not 'too much'!

Dress Shopping

I brought a lovely friend with me who is much more stylish than me and I knew she would be honest if something didn't suit me - a perfect combination! She also had the same reaction as me and felt that my favourite dress really was the 'one' for me. Compared to the busy high street stores in central London, Miss Bush was so much more calm and relaxed, I didn't feel I was just another customer off the street but that the staff were genuinely interested in finding a perfect match for me. They had a much more interesting choice of dresses too.

Styling

I hankered after a pair of Jimmy Choos and spotted a pair of champagne glitter heels that I knew I had to have before I'd found my dress, the dress had to just fit in with the shoes to be honest!

As for accessories, I went along to an accessory event held at Miss Bush which was great fun and I found my perfect earrings and hair accessories there from jewellery maker Miss Clemmie.

About the Day

Our day was a relaxed country wedding at a beautiful venue in the Lake District. We both love the Lake district, had our first holiday there as a couple, and the proposal took place on the summit of Cat Bells, a beautiful Fell in the heart of the Lakes. We couldn't not get married there really! We kept the decor simple with white flowers and green foliage, and plenty of fairy lights and candles. We were so fortunate that the sun shone all day, so we had drinks out on the lawn while my son-in-law's jazz band played for us, and later had a wonderful meal in the main barn with music and dancing until late. Our main aim was for everyone to feel relaxed, enjoy good food and drink, and have fun. It was the best day we could have asked for.

The best bits

The wedding ceremony - my husband's vows to me were the most beautiful words I have ever heard, time stood still for that moment, and I will remember that feeling always...of course the free-flowing tequila later on and having all the people I love most in the world around me are close runners up!

Sarah's Advice

Do the big bridal stores up town by all means, but they tend to tell you that you look 'stunning' in everything you try on to get your business. So unless you know beforehand exactly what you want, keep persevering and try the smaller independents like Miss Bush for a much more personal, genuine experience.Oh, and my Jimmy Choos were amazing but I cannot dance all night in high heels. I was stumped as to what I could change into, bearing in mind the long dress. Then 48 hours before the wedding a friend told me about high-heeled trainers. I didn't know these even existed! Next day delivery delivered, and I wore some brilliant sparkly silver high-heeled trainers the same height as my Choos. Comfortable all night and no tripping over my train! Best tip ever for me!
