Sophie & Nick were married at a beautiful Summer barn wedding at Wasing Park, with a romantic outdoor ceremony followed by a stunning reception in The Castle Barn. The feel of the day was relaxed and elegant, styled with a soft pastel colour palette and woodland inspired elements.

Sophie's dress was a special creation, based on Jesus Peiro's 2231 wedding dress. Sophie adapted the dress to make it her own, switching the standard 2231 skirt for the full, voluminous skirt from 8004. This worked wonderfully with the delicate dotty embroidered tulle sleeves and v-neckline. Sophie styled her dress with classic bridal accessories, opting for a full length cathedral veil, pearl jewellery and off-white satin block heels. We absolutely adored Sophie's evening look, when she switched the veil for a fabulous large satin bow.

Sophie told us all about her dress shopping experience and her wedding to Nick - read on for more!

A Custom Jesus Peiro wedding dress

I chose a custom made Jesus Peiro mash-up of the wonderfully theatrical 8004 skirt and beautifully delicate 2231 top half and sleeves. Emma designed the dress for me and I knew straight away that everything about this dress was so typically 'me'. I honestly felt completely myself, but with a whole lot of fairytale added. Wish I could wear it every day!

Dress Shopping

I brought my mum and my twin sister to my appointment. We came back a second time (after the Jesus Peiro 'Textures' Launch) and tried both the dresses on (one on top of the other) to get the effect and they both fell in love as much as I did. I think there may have been some tears, but I was just so happy to have finally found something I was happy with, I was physically bouncing with joy.

Trying on lots of wedding dresses was super fun, but spending that quality time with my sister, my mum and my step mum was really special.

I didn't really have any issues, I suppose I had in my mind the dress I wanted and I did start to panic when that specific dress didn't suit me as well as I'd hoped, but Emma and her amazing team came up with this fabulous bespoke option and all my worries were squashed.

Styling

I had a cathedral length veil from Miss Bush, very plain so as not to mess with the detail of the sleeves of my dress. I had a hooped petticoat to really make the skirt of the dress stand out. I had a drop pearl necklace and earrings, which I was really pleased with, I think they reflected the little polka dots on the dress nicely. I had off-white satin pointed court shoes with a block heel from Perfect Bridal - I needed them to be practical and comfortable as we would be walking on grass and gravel, but I loved the classic style with the dress. I also chose to have my hair up for the ceremony and half up half down for the party! When I took my hair and the veil out I added a floppy satin bow from Six Stories, which I think worked really well.

About the Day

The general theme of the wedding was ethereal pastel with whimsical woodland foliage. I wanted the day to feel welcoming and warm but with fun pops of bright colour. I took the colour inspiration from our warm UK summer sunsets which have these striking pinks, purples and blues.

The best bits

I had all four of my parents walk me to the aisle before my dad walked me down, that was so special for me. I obviously loved when when Nick and I actually got married, but also really enjoyed the time we had on our own, it was so nice just walking around the grounds kissing a lot!

Sophie's Advice

Trust your instinct, go with a supplier/idea/dress you are 100% sure about. Don't let anyone dictate what you choose for your day, it's your day, it has to be what is right for you. Have fun! Enjoy the whole process, not just the day because there are so many special moments in the run up and it goes by in a flash - you'll be sad when it's over! Try not to sweat the small stuff, it'll only be you who notices. Oh and buy your dress from Miss Bush - they are the best in the biz!
